I.
So long in the trav’ling
For to find the blue ocean
I could see no horizon,
And no ship to make sail
The stranger was waiting,
His eyes held such kindness
That I sat down be side him
To tell him my tale

Refrain
I had gold from my labours
And was clothed in fine fashion,
Had a pack full of/ treasures
That I’dfound on the way
I had coins of bright silver
And all kinds of jewels
Yet my heart was a pauper
And my soul wandering stray

II.
Oh my mind it was weary,
My tears a small river
And my words were a story
Of sadness and loss
He held me enraptured
With a gaze of forever
As he told of our history
That had long been forgot

Refrain…I had gold…

III.
And I wept with the memory
Of that now forgotten,
But that calls to my heart
In the shade of the world

Finale 2x
Oh and all the fine treasure
That I’d brought on my journey
I left by the wayside
To search for a pearl
